Bloody Mary Mix -- back to top

Mix together and add 1/2 gallon tomato juice.

Boiled Raisin Cake -- back to top

From Dad's recipe book, page 13.

Chop raisins very fine and boil in water til most of it is absorbed. Add shortening to raisins and stir til melted. Add sugar til dissolved. Soft flour, measure and sift again with salt, soda and spices

Pour mixture in a bowl and add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Beat thoroughly after each addition. Chop nuts and dust lightly with flour. Add to mixture and blend. Pour into large greased load pan 5x9x4. Bake at 325 for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Keeps well.

Jwinokur note: The directions call for shortening but it isn't listed in the ingredients. I didn't miss copy it

Mix and bake in covered casserole. 40 minutes at 350. Uncover and bake 10 min more

Chocolate Mousse -- back to top

Melt chocolate over hot water. Whip egg white to peak stage, set aside. Add sugar to chocolate, blend well. Add yolks one at a time. Add coffee and liqueur. Fold in 3/4 of the whipped cream. Fold in whites

Serve in:

  1. Individual bowls

  2. cut glass bowl

  3. line a spring form pan with lady fingers. Pour doubled recipe into mold. Chill until set and remove

In all cases, garnish with rosettes of whipped cream

peel oranges making sure not to get any white. Put in large glass jar with vodka, seeds and juice from oranges (peeled rind should be grated). Let stand 2 weeks then strain through cloth. Add 3 cups sugar and 3 oz brandy flavor. Mix til sugar dissolves. Let stand til clear. Bottle

Honey Cake

Mix all dry ingredients into la gre bowl. Make a well and add all liquid ingredients. Mix together thoroughly and add raisins and nuts. Bake at 350 for 45-60 min in a well-greased tube/bundt pan.

Lemon Souffle -- back to top

Prepare 4c. souffle dish with collar. Grate rind and squeeze juice. Sprinkle gelatin over water in sauce pan. Let stand 10 minutes to soften. Cook over heat (low) until gelatin dissolves. Cool

Combine eggs and sugar. Beat at high speed til thick. Which 1 1/2 cups cream to soft peaks then refrigerate. Combine find and juice with cooled gelatin and pour into egg mixture.

Chill approx 5 mins in fridge. Stir frequently just to mixture mounds. Fold in whipped cream. Pour in dish. Chill at least 3 hours and garnish with remaining cream.

One-Mix Oatmeal Cake -- back to top

Heat oven to 350. Grease and flour baking pan, 13x9x2. Measure all ingredients into large mixing bowl. Blend 1/2 a minute at low speed scraping bowl constantly. Beat 3 minutes at high speed scraping occasionally. Pour into pan. Bake 35049 minutes or til it tests done. Cool slightly. Spread topping on cake. Broil 3in from heat til topping is bubbly and golden brown. Watch carefully - Mixture burns easily.

Pizza Dough -- back to top

Given my own experiences with pizza dough, this will burn at these times. Also, I am not sure I understand the idea with the boiling water.

Note: There are values in parenthesis. I think from context that these are corrected values but I may be wrong.

Soften yeast in warm water. Combine all but flour. Let cool to luke warm. Add yeast. Add most of flour and beat until smooth. Add remaining flour and knead, Rise til double. Punch down and divide into 3 parts. Let rise 40 mins. Roll thin and brush with oil. Add sauce and cheese. Bake at 400 for 30 min.

Quiche -- back to top

Place onion rings, Bacos, cheese and milk (bowel 4) in four separate bowls. Place seasoning with eggs. Take small amount from each bowl to fill over top ending with bowl 4. Bake thoroughly for 20-30 minutes at 375 or 1/2 bake and freeze.

Reeses Peanut Butter Chip Chocolate Cookies -- back to top

Cream butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy. Combine dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture. Stir in Chips. Either drip by teaspoonful or flatten 1-inch balls of dough with fork. Bake at 350 for 8-10 mins. Cool one min before removing from sheet to rack. Yield 5 dozen cookies.

Dough

Filling

Combine margarine and cream cheese and beat til smooth. Gradually add flour and sour cream. Beat until thoroughly blended. Chill overnight.

Blend together preserves, nuts,coconut, and raisins. Divide dough into 6 balls and a floured board. Rolle each ball into a 9 in circle. Sprinkle some sugar and cinnamon mixture. Slice each circle in 1/2 then slice each 12 into 5 wedges (total 10). Place one teaspoon of filling in the center of each wedge. Roll up starting at wide edge. Roll in remaining sugar. Bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes

Spinach or Broccoli Noodle Casserole -- back to top

Cook vegetables and noodles separately for minimum tim. Mix all ingredients and spice to taste (salt, lemon pepper, etc). Sprinkle some cheese on top. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Makes 2 large casseroles.

Strawberry Creme Brulee -- back to top

Page 7.

Beat yolks until thick. Gradually add sugar beating constantly. Slowly pour in cream stirring constantly. Flavor with vanilla and pour into shallow 1 quart pan. Put in a pan of hot water and bake in a 350 oven for one our til firm and knife comes out dry. Cool on a rack and chill completely. Shortly before serving, dip strawberries in jelly that has been melted over hot water. Arrange berries on top of creme, pointed side up.

Jwink3101 note: No bruleeing of sugar? Maybe on top before the strawberries? Otherwise, this more of a strawberry egg custard

Heat soup in double boiler -- add gelatin mixed with water and cream cheese. Remove from heat and blend with remaining ingredients in blender or processor. Pour in greased mold and refrigerate. Garnish with olives and parsley

Turtle Bars -- back to top

From Dad's recipe book. Pages 2 and 3.

Combine 1 1/2 cups flour, oats, sugar, and salt. Add melted butter. Mix until crumbly Reserve 3/4 cup for topping. Press remaining mix into bottom of a greased 9" x 13" baking pan. Bake at 375 for 10 mins.

Take out and sprinkle with chips and nuts. Combine topping and 1/4 cup flour. Drizzle over chocolate and nuts. Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture. Bake 20 mins more. Cool completely and cut into bars.
