Fermentor (from 2013-08-08) -- back to top

I wanted to be able to get a good estimate of my final wort volume from the fluid level in the fermentor. I taped apiece of paper_flush with the counter and the fermentor wall_ and I added a cup of water at a time. I shined a flashlight into the liquid so I could see the line and I noted it.

I made a cubic regression in Matlab. Linear looked okay until you looked at the error and saw that the error was not evenly distributed.Quadratic looked fine but I knew from the math, that the volume is related to r^2*h and h is related to r. Basically, a cubic is what the math says. Below is my data and the final Matlabc oefficients:

fermentor_fit

V(h)=c0 + c1h + c2h^2 +c3*h^3

c0:-1.695513348027587

c1:1.399445832910603

c2:0.018361545876323

c3:-0.000225590344486
