Meringue Cookies

2 egg whites
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Beat together until peaked, then add

3/4 cup sugar

Beat until stiff. Add chocolate chips if desired.

Drop by teaspoonful onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 300 for 25 minutes.
