We were tasked with three sides for Thanksgiving at a friend's house. Salad, mashed potatoes, and a dessert.
For the salad, I made the Pomegranate, Kale and Wild Rice Salad[@rev]. We were running low on time so I skipped the optional step of lowering the bite of the dressing by cooking the shallots. MISTAKE. I am glad we were serving the dressing on the side since it was super intense. I didn't like it!
I used a 5 lbs bag of small, waxy potatoes from Costco. All I used in them was butter (~1 stick), sour cream (~6 oz I think...half a small container), and salt. We didn't use garlic or anything since we had people who don't eat it.
We were told to be one dessert so we made a cookie tray...of two types. Each has its own post.
We actually planned a third (Lavender shortbread) but ran out of time1. It was fine though. We had more than enough.
I was still getting over a cold or something and needed a nap! ↩
